MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT started up in Asturias in 1988 and has been expanding its presence all throughout the Iberian Peninsula ever since. It has delegations in Spain and Portugal.

The Company marked a turning point in the sector by bringing the latest technology in traumatology and orthopedics to hospitals together with a fully comprehensive training programme directed at the healthcare personnel, to improve outcomes for their patients. MBA has always been characterized by its support of surgeons and for working with prestigious product brands.

Since 2022 the Swedish AddLife, a company that offers products, solutions, and consulting for different actors of the life science market, owns 100% of MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT (trademark of MBA Incorporado S.L).

Principal milestones

1988

MBA starts up in Asturias. A turning point in the understanding of traumatology and orthopedics.

1989

MBA increases its their presence in Spain by opening delegations in major cities like Madrid and Barcelona.

1995

New solutions and divisions are incorporated.

1998

Success in the anaesthesia field brings about the creation of BIOSER.

1999

International expansion starts up with implementation in Portugal.

2000

Full coverage is achieved in the Iberian Peninsula.

2002

Our experience in Portugal serves as a point of reference for opening in Italy.

2007

MBA becomes the leading independent company in the European market.

2008

The fund manager Alantra acquires the majority of the company’s share capital.

2010

MBA Institute is created.

2012

MBA moves to its new headquarters in Silos del Intra. The construction was awarded the 2013 National Civil Engineering Award.

2015

A new period begins at MBA with major changes to the company’s strategy, management team and work methods.

2017

The trademark MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT, multinational distributor in southern Europe, is created.

2018

30th anniversary actions begins.

2019

MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT acquires ARGANON MEDICAL to strengthening its presence in the neurosurgery market.

2022

MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT is acquired by the Swedish company AddLife.

2023

From 1 January 2023 MBA SURGICAL EMPOWERMENT is an Iberian company.
